{The Little Things} an ongoing series where I intend to pause and reflect, not all that unlike the "this moment" series but with words, on the little things that are happening in our lives. To recognize and honor all things that make me realize how quickly the beautiful gift called life, family, and children is going by. And most of all to take a moment to breathe in and embrace these little things in life!
This months {the little things} photo focus is actually on a big thing - our house! These photos were taken on May 30th during our home inspection to capture a few special features of the 1920s home we are about to own that I am just loving.
Isn't this just the coolest doorbell you've ever seen?
Window boxes: part of the deck decor
These brick front steps will soon become very familiar to us
The colors of the house.
I am not sure that I would have ever chosen them if I had been given the task to paint, but I actually LOVE the way they look - well done whoever picked them years ago! I also love the log cabin feel of the garage. And the flowers!
The shady side of the house.
I am dreaming of many magical play spaces we'll create here.
The welcoming and oh-so-cute (to me) front porch.
Doesn't it just say, come on in?
A few other {little things} from this month that I'm wanting to pause and remember:
- Jack takes stairs one at a time. I think he has been doing this for quite some time, but for some reason in recent weeks I was struck by this physical milestone as I watched it before my eyes.
- Charlie is nearly able to sit up on his own. He still needs a hand close-by to catch him when he wobbles or the bobby to help him, but his core certainly is getting stronger.
- The early and warm spring made the iris bloom in our front yard under our gorgeous maple tree for the first time in the 3-years we've lived here.
- First foods. In the past month Charlie has been getting to sample some homemade purees and he's really enjoying the adventure. He was even so sneaky as to pick a strawberry right off the stem while we were at the berry patch picking and give that a good tasting - he enjoyed!
- End of school - beginning of summer. The weather is warm, the windows are open, the cool waters of the pool welcome us, and there are some early harvests from our garden!
- Daddy has started working his many summer jobs (catering, maintenance staff at camp, school-program-developer) - thanks daddy!
